Bruce is playing the respectful straight bat on this as is McClaren.
Bruce's reaction to me was an enormous COME AND GET ME PLEA as the tabloids like to term it.
He would kill to be Newcastle manager despite the car crash it appears under Ashley.
As someone said yesterday about the Leeds job there is ALWAYS someone who thinks I am the one who will succeed.

The interesting thing to me about this appointment will be the contract that the new man signs. The LMA advised Pardew not to sign under the terms offered but he went ahead anyway. This eight year contract which restricted Pardew to being head coach and simply preparing the players he was given did not pay all that much. In addition it left Pardew in a situation whereby four years later Palace had to pay hefty compensation to get his services.

Listened to 60 yesterday, gawd help me. Robbie Savage nailed it - other than having 50,000-plus supporters, in what way are Newcastle a big club? They don't seem to want to win anything. Can't compete for the top four because they always sell their best players, and underperform massively in the cups.
There was a clip of McLaren conspicuously failing to say he wasn't interested in the job under repeated questioning.

There's no one really suited that will take the job, only fat boy Bruce, ex Sunderland and Hull flop. This could get amusing, and i can see Newcastle going into freefall.
Anything is possible with Mike Ashley. Let's be honest the appointment of Pardew, who had done nothing for a few years was a big shock at the time.
